Meta Henrico Data Center | Sandston, Virginia
Meta’s Henrico Data Center, located in Sandston, Virginia, is a major
multi-phase development on a 130-acre site within White Oak Technology Park.
Construction began in October 2017, and the campus was built in an “H”
configuration with five buildings, covering approximately 2.4–2.5 million
square feet at full build-out.
About The Project
Backed by an investment of over $1 billion—with more than $1.7 billion in cumulative construction costs—the site supports a peak workforce of around 1,500 skilled trade workers and sustains over 200 permanent jobs in the region.
Sustainability remains central to the project. The campus targets LEED® BD+C Gold certification, runs on 100% renewable energy and supports clean energy growth by enabling 700 MW of solar projects across Virginia. It also incorporates advanced water management systems—including water reuse, rainwater capture, native landscaping and ultra-efficient cooling technology—to reduce environmental impact in alignment with Meta’s goal to become water positive by 2030.
Meta’s Henrico Data Center stands as a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient and community-focused facility—delivering large-scale digital infrastructure with lasting economic and environmental benefits for Sandston and beyond.
