More than 50 DPR Construction employees gathered once again to march in the Capital Pride parade, host of the 2025 WorldPride celebration in Washington, DC. While the event is once a year, the company’s participation a reflection of DPR’s everyday efforts to create a culture where everyone belongs.
DPR was proud to be the only general contractor participating in WorldPride this year—a reflection of how local employees wanted to support their coworkers, friends and families.
Authenticity in the Workplace
Creating an environment where everyone can bring their best selves to work every day has been core to DPR since its founding in 1990. Over the years, the company has seen how belonging fuels performance, drives innovation, and how having a variety of voices at the table creates better outcomes—for employees, projects, and the industry.
That belief is backed by data:
- According to Deloitte, 93% of HR leaders said that a sense of belonging drives organizational performance, reinforcing that belonging is essential to business success.
- Research from Harvard Business Review found that employees who feel like they belong are 3.5x more likely to contribute to their fullest potential.
These are more than statistics—they’re a testament to the environment DPR works to foster every day.
“Whether on a jobsite or at a Pride parade, belonging is something we build together,” stated Mike Humphrey, Leadership Team Member. “It shows up in our teams, our partnerships, and the trust we earn every day. And while we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we’re even more focused on what’s ahead—continuing to raise the standard for what it means to lead in construction.”
DPR hires talented people and knows that keeping talented people means cultivating a culture where people of all backgrounds, identities, and perspectives feel safe, seen, and empowered to lead. Creating space for people to thrive takes more than intent—it takes consistent action.
Building belonging isn’t a campaign or a program—it’s how we work, how we lead, and how we build a better industry for everyone. DPR’s recognition by Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces and Greatest Workplaces for Mental Wellbeing, reflects that commitment.
Changing the World—By Changing Our Industry
The ways we build have changed greatly over the past decade. Who feels at home on jobsites is changing, too. That means challenging outdated assumptions about who belongs in this industry—and who leads it.
“When people feel like they belong, they perform better, stay longer, and bring their full selves to work. That’s what makes DPR special.”
– Camilo Garcia, Leadership Team Member
By showing up for fellow team members—not just in words, but in action—DPR’s team believes it’s building a stronger foundation for the next generation of builders, tradespeople, engineers, and innovators. That takes many forms. This month and into the summer, it also means that, in addition to World Pride, DPR teams are participating in Pride events across the country including Atlanta, GA, Sacramento, CA, San Diego, CA., San Francisco, CA, and Seattle, WA.
