The vertical expansion focused on women and infants, including a new lobby, ante-partum and post-partum patient rooms, LDR, C-Section OR’s and recovery, and 28 private NICU rooms. Also included in the vertical expansion were six new elevators and other circulation improvements to the existing facility. The structure is a steel frame with EIFS, glass, and masonry skin. The project included removal and replacement of parking areas, new playground areas, and expansion of the ER entrance.
Details
The central mechanical plant work consisted of a new structure built to house two new and two relocated chillers and one new and one relocated cooling tower. This also included a new generator, switchgear, new service feed, and multiple other electrical distribution modifications. The new utility capacity of the expanded plant fed the vertical expansion via a 600-ft. trench routed under the hospital.
