Kidd Brewer Stadium North End Zone

Kidd Brewer Stadium North End Zone | Boone, North Carolina

Appalachian State University's new End Zone Facility is 88,000-sq.-ft. and serves as the iconic new entrance to Kidd Brewer stadium. The facility houses athletics, catering, events, club amenities, ticket office, and a retail store. The End Zone includes approximately 1,000 luxury suite seats and club level amenities as well as the home locker room, weight room and conditioning space, and 2 hydrotherapy pools. When not in use for game day, it serves as the largest event and banquet space on campus and the University's main commercial kitchen. The project is LEED Silver Certified.

During the project, App State University relied on DPR's experience as a sports facility builder and brought lessons learned from other NCAA programs. In preconstruction, the team came up with over 72 alternates to ensure ASU got the program they wanted in their budget. The team also achieved the MWBE participation goals through outreach, advertisements, and a robust supplier diversity approach.

Due to the level of finishes and complexity of the skin system, including stone, brick, insulated metal panels, glass reinforced concrete, and curtainwall, DPR utilized our Distinguishing Features of Work approach for the coordination and attention to detail required to achieve the desired appearance and functionality of the building. For thorough constructability review, the team project team utilized full scale mock ups of the exterior skin system and laser scanning of work put in place.
