Thermo Fisher Scientific | Carlsbad cGMP Facility | Carlsbad, CA

This design-build project was a historically significant project for DPR Construction to be part of. Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, DPR, CE&IC, and FPBA were recruited to help build this facility to manufacture components for vaccines and other pharmaceutical therapies.

About The

Facility

The Carlsbad cGMP Facility consisted of 18,500-sq.-ft. of tenant improvements within an existing Thermo Fisher Scientific building. Construction included bio-industrial research & development space, manufacturing, warehouse space, and a large structural steel and concrete equipment platform with metal decking that was constructed inside the existing one-story warehouse building. Scope also included a heavy amount of sawcutting and trenching of the existing slab on grade to accommodate new underground plumbing, process waste, and electrical. The fast-track project was completed on time and achieved zero defects at turnover.

DPR Construction self-performed drywall, acoustic ceiling tiles (ACT), concrete, specialties and doors, frames and hardware (DFH).
