Aligning Our Approach
Actions Speak

Louder Than Words

To make the impact we want, we must continuously keep score. Much like the customers we serve, DPR has a deep desire to change the world we live in.

We want to transform our industry through quality and innovation. We want to be integral and indispensable to our communities and deliver healthier workplaces. We want to build belonging throughout our organization and projects with our customers, employees, partners and suppliers.

But saying these things is not enough. DPR uses several frameworks, strategies and tactics to hold ourselves accountable and measure progress toward our commitments to people, partners, planet and community.

Benchmarking Our Progress
Aligning With A

Global Framework

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015, are a set of integrated calls to action and a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. DPR joins governments and businesses worldwide in adopting the SDGs as a global framework, and aligning to them through efforts including:

Quality Education

Building possibilities for the under-resourced

Gender Equality

Creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Driving a more equitable and resilient work environment by maximizing opportunities for diverse businesses

Reduced Inequalities

Developing a workforce that reflects the rich diversity of the communities where we live, work, serve and build

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Creating a more sustainable work environment focused on how we operate in our offices and jobsites

Climate Action

Building a healthier environment for people and the planet while reducing our carbon footprint

Transparency On Progress

Toward Social Equity

Founded by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) in 2014, the Just Label is a voluntary disclosure tool and platform for organizations to measure progress toward social equity based on a range of organization- and employee-related indicators—marking a new era of corporate transparency.

DPR became a Just organization in 2022 and is currently the largest company and only general contractor to have voluntarily participated in the updated Just 2.0 label. Joining a growing number of companies across industries, we share our Just 2.0 label to provide analysis and insight into the company across six categories: diversity and inclusion, equity, employee health, employee benefits, stewardship, and purchasing and supply chain.

We are proud to have achieved level 4 on 12 of the 22 Just label indicators. We also see opportunities for further improvement. In the last seven years, DPR has increased the number of women in senior leadership by 60% and ethnically diverse leaders by 45%. We will continue to focus on our recruiting, retention and succession planning to raise the bar even higher.

Similar to a nutrition label, Just provides a benchmark, and we are committed to working together to take action and help drive socially responsible change for us all.

For People And Planet

DPR strives to create a healthier future for both people and planet through better operational practices. To achieve this goal, we are driving action toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our company footprint, aligning with industry guidelines to benchmark, and implementing sustainable best practice resources for both jobsites and offices.

Path to regeneration

Path to Regeneration

A roadmap for DPR’s vision to reduce carbon emissions. It focuses on a direct data-driven approach, with progress tracked using real-time transparent data coupled with in-house, hands-on carbon sequestering initiatives.

Contractor’s Commitment

An industry-aligned framework to benchmark sustainability, providing uniformity in reporting performance. Launched in 2021, DPR is part of the Sustainable Construction Leaders network piloting these guidelines across areas of operation including carbon, materials, waste, water and wellness.

Sustainable Best Practices

A detailed guide of actions tailored to jobsite and office operations. These resources encourage sustainable decision-making at the team and individual level by identifying and prioritizing tactics that move behavior toward better choices in support of the environment and employee wellbeing.

In addition to our company-wide commitments, DPR uses several certification and rating systems to measure the sustainability of its projects. Learn more about DPR’s approach to sustainable construction.

Our focus on global social responsibility means we seek to be a strong global citizen...We must benchmark our progress so that we have a baseline for continuous improvement.
