DPR performed an interior renovation of the biology lab on the third floor of the five-story Muir Hall at the University of California, San Diego. The project is approximately 8,000 sq. ft. of the overall 14,000-sq.-ft floor plate and the scope included a complete renovation of lab spaces to establish an open lab configuration.
Specific upgrades included fire/smoke detection systems, fire rating components, fire protection systems, HVAC system renovation, fume hood replacement, plumbing systems and an upgrade of the existing electrical system including interior lighting and standby power requirements. Other upgrades included accessibility compliance and all new interior finishes including casework and ceiling treatment.
