Project

Scope

This new facility will be a one-of-a-kind regional rehabilitation hospital, thoughtfully designed with the latest state-of-the-art technology and programs to better serve patients and the surrounding communities.

The team at Atrium Health wants to build a healthcare facility to change the healing environment. The goal is to not only to transform healthcare delivery but also change project delivery. Early on, this team embarked on a journey to create a truly collaborative team environment of vulnerable trust, transparency, and mutual respect. The project will be delivered by implementing various Lean concepts both during design and construction and a Big Room for collocation and collaboration throughout the project.

Reducing

Rework

To facilitate early caregiver input, DPR Rodgers built full-scale mockups of the innovative patient room design in DPR's Charlotte warehouse allowing nursing staff and hospital leadership to physically experience the new layout. This allowed the team to make changes during design development and reduce rework in the field. With Atrium Health's dedication to changing project delivery, over 60% of the project will be prefabricated in an offsite warehouse improving schedule, quality, and safety.
