  • Role: National Preconstruction Leader
  • Year started at DPR: 2014
  • Location: Dallas – Ft. Worth, TX
  • Education: Texas A&M University

Roel Aguilar approaches his role in the Preconstruction group with a strong work ethic, genuine respect for people and a deep passion for building. As National Preconstruction Leader, he guides teams that support the front lines during the preconstruction phase and into operations during construction. Roel believes success starts early, with thoughtful budgets, reliable schedules and the right people and tools in place to follow through. He works closely with teams to integrate Mechanical/Electric/Plumbing (MEP), Safety, Self-Perform Work (SPW), Quality, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Project Controls into a cohesive and executable plan.

Roel grew up farming in South Texas, where he learned the value of hard work, planning and resilience. Watching a field turn into something purposeful taught him that care and proper coordination will lead to meaningful outcomes. In college, he joined the Corps of Cadets and developed a strong sense of structure and adaptability that continues to influence his leadership style today.

Drawn to DPR’s non-hierarchical structure and the accessibility of its leaders, Roel found alignment with the company’s values and approach. He is passionate about helping people grow and is dedicated to assisting individuals in reaching their highest potential. Caring for and supporting others, managing projects efficiently and serving clients effectively are all priorities he believes benefit the entire organization.

His project experience includes The Union Dallas and projects for Charles Schwab, JW Marriott, HCA and Novartis.

Outside of work, Roel enjoys reading and spending time with his family. He and his wife are proud new grandparents, and he cherishes every opportunity to spoil his grandson.

Fun Facts

  • Favorite DPR Core Value: Integrity—honesty is where it’s at for me.
  • Desired Superpower: The ability to travel without flying, having a transporter similar to Star Trek, where one would beam out of the ship to a location. Wouldn’t that be cool?
  • Your Hero: My grandfather was my hero, one of the hardest working men, the most honest and fair person I ever knew, who had a lot of influence on my upbringing. I learned how to take care of people, the purpose of developing great teams and how to be resilient and gritty because of him.
  • Word to the Wise (Advice): Even when you fail, and you fail again, keep getting up and try again. Failure is learning; not trying is a true failure.
