  • Year started at DPR: 2007
  • Location: Raleigh-Durham – Chapel Hill
  • Education: University of Florida

Jay Stoda focuses on connecting people, planning with purpose, and helping teams achieve great outcomes. As Co-Leader of DPR’s Southeast Region and member of DPR's Leadership Team, he supports teams in the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida, aligning regional strategy with long-term goals while positioning teams for future success. Jay believes that effective planning gives teams the freedom to be more thoughtful about solutions and have more fun delivering projects that will change the world.

Jay works closely with regional leaders and project teams to align DPR’s unique capabilities, including self-performed work, design integration, MEP expertise, and prefabrication, with project goals. He enjoys the ability in his role to work directly with customers, design partners, and DPR’s teams toward their shared success.

Originally planning to become an architect, Jay elected to pursue a construction management degree, and his early interest in design continues to shape his approach. He thrives in the planning phase, particularly in forming teams, simplifying complexity, and driving predictability for customers and partners.

Jay’s project experience includes work in the healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, and commercial sectors. Notable projects include Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, KPMG Global Training Center, VCU Health Children's Hospital, the LG Electronics Manufacturing Facility, and UNC/Rex New Patient Bed Tower.

Outside of work, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, which usually means walking their Lab while discussing their next meal. He enjoys playing golf, traveling, and any opportunity to head to the coast.

Fun Facts

  • Favorite DPR Core Value: Integrity. By doing what we say we will do, we reinforce all of our core values.
  • What You Love About Construction: The variation. I am always impressed at what people in construction must do technically, from a business perspective, and with strong personal skills to be effective. Factor in new circumstances, geographies, technologies, and partners on every project, and it is remarkable what teams achieve together in our industry.
  • First Job: Deliveries for a local law firm in high school. Typically, I handled post office runs, lunch orders, and trips to the clerk of courts, with a lot of shredding and archiving in between. Occasionally, I even got to deliver a subpoena, which was always interesting.
  • Most Useful App: Spotify
  • Best Vacation Spot: Wrightsville Beach
  • Word to the Wise (Advice): “Be tolerant with others and strict with yourself.”
