DPR’s benefits program addresses both the immediate and long-term needs for our employees and their families. Employees must be non-union and full-time to participate; part-time employees are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage. In addition to insurance (life, disability and critical illness), personal time off (PTO), and retirement savings (401k), DPR offers a number of unique offerings:
Medical, Dental, Vision, Wellness
DPR Construction offers you several medical plan options: the Cigna Open Access Plus plan, the Cigna High Deductible Health Plan with Health Savings Account and the Kaiser Permanente plan (CA employees only).
Cigna - Open Access Plus (OAP) Plan
The Open Access Plus Plan uses a nationwide network of providers and hospitals called Open Access Plus Providers. This plan offers you medical care from the provider of your choice. You maintain complete freedom of choice each time you seek medical care: (1) you choose a Network Open Access Plus provider or (2) you choose a non-network provider (a doctor who is outside of the OAP network). When you use network providers, your claims will be paid at a higher percentage. If you choose providers outside of the network, your claims will be paid at the out-of-network level. There is an annual deductible that must be met.
Cigna - High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) With Health Savings Account (HSA)
The High Deductible Health Plan combined with Health Savings Account provides a high deductible medical plan with a tax advantaged health savings account, partially funded by DPR. The health savings account is used to pay for eligible medical expenses incurred before reaching the annual plan deductible.
Machine readable files are available in response to the federal Transparency in Coverage Rule and includes negotiated service rates and out-of-network allowed amounts between health plans and healthcare providers. The machine-readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze data.
The Kaiser plan is a traditional HMO plan available for California-based employees only. On this plan you can access all Kaiser physicians; some specialists you can self-refer, while others require a referral from your plan physician.
Additional Medical Support Programs
- MDLIVE - MDLIVE is a telehealth benefit that provides employees and their families access to a network of board-certified doctors, psychiatrists, and counselors via virtual visits - phone or video.
- Omada Health - Omada is a digital lifestyle change program (with access to a health coach) designed to help at-risk individuals combat weight-related chronic diseases.
- Hinge Health - Hinge Health offers a virtual physical therapy program (with access to behavioral therapy coach) designed to address chronic back, knee, hip, neck, of shoulder pain.
DPR Construction offers two dental plan options: the DHMO plan and the DPPO plan, both provided by Cigna Healthcare. Both plans offer comprehensive dental care and include orthodontia coverage for both adults and children.
Vision coverage is provided by Vision Service Plan (VSP). Vision coverage allows employees to receive eye exams, glasses and non-disposable contact lenses at low co-payments or discounts. Employees are not required to visit a participating doctor for benefits; however, using a non-VSP provider will affect the level of benefit received.
DPR supports the holistic total wellbeing of its employees by offering rewards for wellness activities. Rewards include Vitality Bucks to use in the Vitality Mall, Apple Watch program, and more.
Life, Disability, Critical Illness, Legal
Life Insurance and AD&D Coverage
DPR Construction provides employees with a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance benefit. The basic life benefit ranges from 2 to 3 times your annual salary, with a maximum benefit of $500,000, based on years of service with DPR. In addition, employees may elect optional life insurance benefits up to 4 times their annual salary with a maximum benefit of $750,000 for employees and up to $100,000 for spouses and domestic partners. A flat $10,000 benefit can be elected for each child.
Business Travel Accident Insurance
While traveling for DPR on company business, DPR provides all full-time employees Business Travel Accident Insurance. The plan pays two times your annual salary up to $500,000.
An employee who becomes disabled due to injury or illness, may be eligible for up to six weeks of paid short-term disability. This benefit is provided with receipt of medical certification and determination of a qualified disability. If the state in which you reside offers a state-paid disability benefit the DPR benefit will be offset by state benefits.
DPR provides employees with Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage equal to 60% of your base earnings, with a maximum monthly benefit of $18,000. LTD benefits begin after a 90-day elimination period.
Critical Illness Insurance
Critical Illness Insurance from MetLife helps bridge the gap left by medical and disability insurance by providing funds for additional out-of-pocket expenses. The program pays $15,000 for the initial diagnosis of conditions such as heart attack, stroke, cancer, kidney failure or major organ transplant.
The Metlife Legal Plan provides a voluntary legal benefit available for DPR employees. This plan can be used for various types of legal advice on such matters as estate planning, consumer protection and family law.
Holidays, Time Off, Counseling
DPR provides 10 paid holidays per year.
Personal Time Off (PTO)
All full-time employees accrue PTO annually. PTO can be used for any personal time off from work, including sick and vacation days. Accrual for the first five years of employment is three weeks per year (15 days) and increases to four weeks (20 days) following five full years of employment. Additionally, employees receive 10 bonus PTO days after each five full years of employment.
Employee Assistance Program
Dealing with the pressures of everyday life (family, relationships, work, and finances) can sometimes require professional assistance. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides a resource for DPR employees and their families to improve and maintain their physical and emotional well-being through professional counseling.
Advocacy & Expert Medical Opinions
DPR provides assistance through Health Advocate with finding a healthcare provider, navigating complex health care issues, assistance with resolving claims and billing issues, an expert second medical opinion, etc.
Family Formation, Flex Spending, Pet, Auto and Home
DPR supports its employees with family formation programs like adoption, surrogacy, and fertility assistance through WINFertility. WINFertility also provides personalized guidance, education, and emotional support for every step of the family building journey.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
DPR employees are offered the opportunity to enroll in flexible spending accounts for daycare and healthcare expenses. Flexible spending accounts are tax-free accounts that can be set up for a calendar year to pay for eligible daycare and/or healthcare expenses. These plans are exempt from state and federal taxes.
Pet, Auto and Home Insurance
Voluntary Pet Insurance is available to DPR employees through Metlife. Pet Insurance covers thousands of medical problems and conditions. Various homeowner and auto insurance programs are offered to DPR employees. MetLife offers these policies at discounted rates to DPR employees.
401(K), Profit Sharing, Education, College Savings
401(k) Salary Deferral Plan
DPR employees are eligible to participate in the DPR Construction 401(k) Plan administered by Vanguard. DPR will match $.50 on each dollar contributed for up to the first 6% of the employee’s salary. All contributions are vested immediately. Employees who are over the age of 50 are eligible to participate in the catch-up contribution, which increases the annual deferral limit for those who qualify. DPR offers the option of traditional pre-tax contributions, or post-tax Roth contributions.
The Profit Sharing program is designed for employees to share in the profitability of DPR and provide for an even greater long-term financial return. The Profit Sharing distributions vest 25% each year over a five year vesting period. The vesting period is a one-time requirement and after five years of employment, employees will be fully vested in the program. Distributions will be based on a combination of annual salary and years of service with DPR.
DPR’s Educational Assistance provides financial support to employees who want to further their education and enhance their skills. Reimbursement of up to $5,000 per calendar year is available to cover tuition costs (including books), and professional license fees. To be eligible, employees must work for DPR a minimum of one year. In order to receive reimbursement, the courses or training taken must be completed and must be in a field related to your work at DPR.
529 College Savings Plan
The 529 College Savings Plan is available to set aside money for higher education costs. This account can be set up for yourself or any designated beneficiary.
Employee Referral Program
DPR is always looking to hire great people. As an incentive to bring new employees to DPR, the DPR Search Program awards employees who refer a friend or relative for a current job opening with $2,000-$4,000 depending on the type of placement.
