The $7 million Health Sciences 2 Parking Deck was designed to a 100-year standard and features some complex systems for achieving this objective. The parking facility is a cast-in-place, post-tensioned deck comprised of 185,000 sq. ft. It accommodates 518 cars on its six floors.
The project encompassed a number of sustainability features. The University hoped to use those feature to earn points toward LEED certification for a future academic building connected to the parking deck.
The project's sustainability features included construction waste recycling, light-reflective surfaces on the deck's top two floors and use of concrete with corrosion inhibitors.
