The new 102,000-sq.-ft. University of Georgia Indoor Athletic Facility (IAF) connects to the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall building. The new facility is a multi-functional space for sports and events, including a 120-yard synthetic turf football field, batting cages, and a 65-meter track area.
Included in this project is a restructuring of the second floor area, including the renovation and creation of three new offices spaces for football staff and a new head coach's living room. On the first floor, a new entry lobby was built on the west side of the building and on the south side as well. Adjacent to the south entrance, a brand new "Grab and Go" area was created for player nutrition.
The construction of the new IAF required demolition of the Nalley Multipurpose Room, and connection to the new Butts-Mehre Building addition. The new facility is oriented north and south along the east side of Rutherford Street.
The facility features state-of-the-art audio visual systems and includes the rehabilitation of three natural grass fields.
