Project Scope

Many traditional and non-traditional techniques and methods were utilized throughout the construction of the Perry Lane Hotel. Notably, the use of BIM for the highly complex MEP coordination; self-perform concrete work; the unique waterproofing system used to mitigate issues with a low water table; and the structural geofoam to accommodate the depth of the rooftop pool. Likely, the most significant contributions of the construction team were the fortitude to see the project through during several iterations of the design as it progressed, a challenging climate for building in summer months (and a hurricane to boot!); and building on an incredibly tight, zero-lot-line piece of property in a highly pedestrian trafficked, historic destination.

Many of the hotel’s fine finishes, including time and stone, were imported from faraway places such as Turkey and Italy. The archways that flank the entryways to the restaurant and retail space were customized by a local business and date back to the 1800s. The lobby boasts floor-to-ceiling millwork wall panels and wood ceilings and the South Tower’s ballroom is finished with coffered ceilings. Every guest room detail, down to the arched portals that greet you upon entering, provides a feeling of cozy and luxurious homelike comfort. Guest rooms also showcase high-end headboards and tv walls that were pre-fabricated overseas.

The maximization of space through the hotel allowed for more than typical food and beverage functions throughout. The hotel houses some of Savannah’s most unique culinary offerings and social gathering places including a coffee bar; charcuterie; a full-service restaurant; a finishing kitchen; a stand-alone bar; and a banquet kitchen that serves the hotel’s event space.

The development team for the Perry Lane Hotel spent approximately five years studying Savannah resulting in a 21st-century hotel that reflects the culture and rich history of one of the South’s most charming coastal cities. The DPR Construction team carried this vision throughout construction and is apparent in every minute detail of the finished, exquisite hotel.
