DPR Construction Swings Big, Charity Golf Tournaments Raise More Than $68,000 for Nonprofits

Raising a total of more than $68,000 to benefit The Taylor Family Foundation (TTFF) and the Valley Medical Center Foundation (VMC Foundation), DPR Construction, Inc., a forward-thinking national commercial contractor and construction manager, recently hosted two charity golf tournaments at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, Calif. and Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose, Calif. The two DPR tournaments, which brought together local businesses from throughout the East Bay and Silicon Valley, raised more than $38,000 for TTFF and $30,000 for the VMC Foundation.

According to DPR’s Eric Kisshauer, the tournaments attracted more than 400 golfers and a number of sponsors, including ALCAL Roofing Insulation & Waterproofing, ARC Electric Company, Dublin Buick-Pontiac-GMC, Ford Graphics, Jones Lang LaSalle, KPMG, Peninsula Digital, O.C. Jones & Sons, Inc., San Jose Blue, Smith Emery Company, Shooter and Butts, Inc., Southland Industries and Studio Blue, among others.

“We appreciate the support we received from our sponsors and participants, especially at a time when reports show a decrease in corporate philanthropy,” said Kisshauer. “The success of these events are a tribute to their efforts, and we’re glad that we were able to rally the same collaborative effort exercised on our jobsites, with our customers and subcontractors, to help worthwhile organizations in the communities where we live and work.”

The tournament hosted by DPR’s Pleasanton office benefited TTFF’s Camp Arroyo, a residential camp in Livermore, Calif. that serves as an environmental education center for local children during the school year and in the summer months provides children, who suffer from HIV/AIDS, child abuse, cancer and other life-threatening diseases, a summer camp experience that promotes the building of independence, trust and a sense of community.

Dollars raised by DPR’s San Jose office for the VMC Foundation will be used to assist the organization’s efforts in supporting programs that benefit the health and welfare of patients of Santa Clara County’s only public hospital, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, which treats burn victims, premature babies, sexually abused children, victims of domestic violence, and children and families in need.

According to Dave Valentine of DPR’s San Jose office, DPR has always been involved in community service on both a national and local level. In addition to charity golf tournaments, DPR has adopted a high school, conducted toy drives, participated in and sponsored walk-a-thons and marathons, and donated construction materials.

“It’s part of our core ideology. We are constantly looking for ways to foster civic responsibility and contribute to the betterment of the community,” added Valentine. “Achieving direct and demonstrable results for organizations like the VMC Foundation and TTFF’s Camp Arroyo provides employees, and sometimes even their families, a chance to get involved and help people in need.”
