DPR's Asia operations in South Korea participated in several activities to celebrate World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28.

At one of its data center projects in Seoul, where DPR is the construction manager, project partners took part in a PPE giving ceremony, where workers were issued new PPE. To further reinforce EHS protocols, prominent EHS placards were displayed on site designed to actively engage subcontractors with key safety reminders and hazard awareness information.

James Shin, DPR’s Safety Manager said, “DPR actively equips our partners with EHS expertise, enabling them to establish an Environment, Health & Safety system that not only meets local standards but also incorporates leading industry best practices.”

At another project, where DPR is also the Project Manager, the celebration included an awards ceremony for outstanding workers. The program concluded with a safety chant reinforcing everyone's commitment to zero incidents.

DPR's senior project and safety manager, Daekyo In, said, "Environmental Health & Safety is more than a program at DPR; it is a value. We incorporate EHS at every phase of a project with one goal: zero incidents."

Another jobsite reinforced safety with a standdown, highlighting key protocols and celebrating safety champions with an awards ceremony. A site walk-through concluded the event, keeping safety top of mind.

As a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO), South Korea has observed the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28 every year since 2003.

“Celebrating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work provides a valuable platform to advance Health & Safety across our job sites," said Hock Yap, DPR's managing director for Asia operations. "As Project Manager, DPR partners with its GCs, offering authentic leadership and coaching to build a strong, positive safety culture that keeps people safe."
