LEEDing the Way

An active member of the U.S. Green Building Council since 1999, DPR has long taken steps to be an industry leader of the green movement. Now, a year after the Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified Sacramento office building opened, DPR is again on the forefront of sustainable construction. In addition to the some 300 individuals trained in overall sustainability company wide, DPR’s latest count of LEED Accredited Professionals tops at 128. Practical evidence of DPR’s green knowledge also exists in the innovative projects the company tackles nationwide. DPR recently wrapped up work on the Knoll Showroom, which achieved LEED Silver certification under a pilot program for commercial interiors, and completed San Diego’s first two LEED-certified projects, one for a major pharmaceutical company and a Gold LEED Commercial Interiors project for TKG Consulting Engineers. In addition, DPR’s South Campus Housing project for Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR, was awarded 34 points and recently received Silver LEED certification.

Another Fruitful Science Project

Consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top technical builders, DPR is now busy applying that expertise to a new science facility in Woodland, CA, for Seminis Inc., the largest developer, grower and marketer of vegetable and fruit seeds in the world. The multi-million dollar Vegetable Quality and Nutrition Building project, a 24,000-sq.-ft., two-story office and laboratory being constructed at Seminis’ worldwide research headquarters, is the result of the company’s market growth and continued success in developing healthier and more nutritious vegetables and fruits. DPR’s substantial experience with science-oriented construction will help assure a completed project that supports Seminis’ global presence of 52 research stations in 17 countries.

DPR Celebrates 10 Great Years in the Southwest

DPR’s Austin and Phoenix offices, which recently commemorated their 10 year anniversaries with clients, friends and staff, remember their inaugural projects well and are pleased to continue relationships with clients formed years ago. The Austin office, which manages projects throughout Texas, cut its teeth by completing a cleanroom for Kachina. Today, DPR is ranked the sixth largest contractor in Austin and counts numerous advanced technology facilities among its accomplishments, including work for HCA, Motorola/Freescale, Oracle, Trammell Crow and University of Texas. In Phoenix, DPR began its roots serving the needs of Motorola. Currently ranked the 10th largest builder in metropolitan Phoenix, DPR continues to build great things throughout Arizona for such clients as Banner Health, Cox Communications, Vanguard Health Systems, City of Phoenix, University Medical Center and Arizona State University. Both offices pride themselves on more than good client relations-with an average 90 percent employee satisfaction rating for the past five years, each is proud to have retained many of the original staff as well.
