DPR’s Hamilton Espinosa and Zach Murphy were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions and industry accomplishments.

People to Know

AZRE magazine’s 2011 “People to Know in Commercial Real Estate” honored DPR’s Hamilton Espinosa as Industry Leader of the Year in the General Contractor category. Nominees for the People to Know award were evaluated by a selection committee for length of time in the community, accomplishments in the commercial real estate industry, and work in the community.

With more than 20 years of construction industry experience, Arizona-based Espinosa has been instrumental in building more than $3 billion worth of healthcare projects, including most recently the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, AZ. He also serves as vice chair of the St. Joseph’s Foundation board, is a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation board and is a member of the Arizona State University Healthcare Design Initiative advisory board.

In addition to his work locally, Espinosa has been leading DPR’s National Healthcare Group. Ranked the fourth largest healthcare general contractor in the country by Modern Healthcare in 2011, DPR has more than $2.7 billion worth of healthcare projects currently in preconstruction or under construction.

Top 20 Under 40

ENR California named DPR’s Zach Murphy one of the industry’s “Top 20 Under 40.” This year’s list includes a wide range of professionals from structural engineers to senior project managers to company presidents.

According to Robert Carlsen of ENR California, individuals were judged on their achievement of/or progress toward industry certifications, including professional licensure or LEED Accredited Professional (AP), community service, industry involvement, diversity, and contributions to creating landmark projects.

Murphy, who started with DPR as a project engineer after graduating from Brown University, has spent the majority of his 15-year career dedicated to technically challenging life sciences and healthcare projects. Currently, Murphy is serving as project executive on a 144-plus-bed expansion to the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. The project, scheduled for a mid-2016 completion, includes new surgical, diagnostic and treatment rooms, as well as more than 3.5 acres of outdoor areas and gardens to provide a park-like setting for patients, families and visitors.
