Celebrate Labor Day Safely
Safety is a value at DPR Construction. Whether it’s on the job or at home with family and friends, we want you to celebrate safely and thought we'd share a few safety reminders as you head into the holiday weekend:
- Grill Safely: Keep the grill out in the open. Never add charcoal starter fluid when coals are ignited. For gas grills, check your propane lines for leaks and don't leave propane on too long before starting.
- Beach Safely: Keep alert for local weather conditions and check to see if any warning signs or flags are posted, especially concerning riptides.
- Sun Safely: Reapply sunscreen often and remember to drink plenty of water, even if you’re not thirsty. If someone shows signs of heatstroke, quickly cool the body by applying wet cloths or towels to the skin or by misting with water. If someone quits sweating, call 911 immediately.
- Swim Safely: If celebrating at a community pool, be sure to make note of the pool’s actual address. This information can save valuable minutes during an emergency call to 911.
Let's not forget what Labor Day is all about...celebrating the workforce.
According to the United States Department of Labor, "Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."
This holiday weekend, we celebrate our family of employees—all 3,000 of them.
