DPR Construction Raises $24,000 for Charity at 3rd Annual Cornhole Classic Tournament

DPR Construction raised $24,000 at the company’s 3rd Annual Cornhole Classic fundraiser. All proceeds were donated to Reins Therapeutic Riding Program, the Voices for Children Foundation and the Autism Tree Project Foundation.

“We’re thrilled by the support of our hardworking staff, clients, sponsors and friends in the industry who contributed to this successful tournament and raised money for three incredible organizations, as we work toward our vision of being integral and indispensable in the communities in which we operate,” said DPR’s Ian Pyka, who chaired the event.

This year’s tournament featured 150 teams made up of architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry members. Over 350 people attended the event to play cornhole for a cause. Key sponsors of the fundraiser included Vision Systems, Reese Building Services (RBS), Ickler Electric, Abbott Engineering and Pacific Rim Mechanical.

Local artists and designers created custom cornhole game boards to be raffled off, generating over $2,000 in ticket sales. Local San Diego artist Christopher Konecki and noteworthy painter Gloria Muriel each donated a set of painted original cornhole boards to the cause. Attendees enjoyed gourmet food truck bites, craft beer and live music performed by singer-songwriter Casey Turner.

The Reins Therapeutic Riding Program provides physical and emotional therapy to a wide range of disabled children and adults through the use of carefully supervised horseback riding. The Voices for Children Foundation supports abused, abandoned and neglected children to make sure they are not lost in the social service system or an unsuitable home or shelter. The Autism Tree Project Foundation is dedicated to improving communities in San Diego County by assisting with education, advocacy, early intervention preschool screening and mentoring for families impacted by autism.
