Why Integration Matters More Than Ever

In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, the ability to connect people, process and tools is what sets industry leaders apart. As projects become increasingly complex, the way we work together must continue to evolve to deliver exceptional results.

Collaboration is key and the integration of tools and processes amplifies impact.

When teams align early around a shared vision and desired outcomes, the path to success becomes clear and speed-to-market, along with the ability to innovate, increases. Decisions are made faster; risk is reduced; creativity and engagement flourish and everyone derives more value.

When It All Comes Together

True integration doesn’t happen by accident or overnight. It is built over time through trust, intentional action, and a commitment to breaking down silos in pursuit of long-term possibilities.

It’s been nearly 20 years since we embarked on our first Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) project for Sutter Health in Mountain View, CA, that fully integrated VDC, IPD and lean principles for a truly collaborative approach. Since then, we have continued to focus on better ways to build with every project, leading to four areas of focus: better integration of the process transition from design-to-build, a robust virtual design and construction (VDC) process, prefabrication and self-perform work (SPW) to drive more predictability and better performance.

For example, on the Crusoe Data Center project in Abilene, TX, our integrated approach was built into the plan from the start. The use of design-to-build, VDC, prefabrication, and SPW, combined with deep collaboration across an ecosystem of partners, is achieving a level of speed and efficiency never before seen on a project of this scale.

In Colorado, collaborative planning not only protected patient care at the AdventHealth Parker Hospital project but also enabled the team to adapt quickly to unforeseen challenges, demonstrating how integration of people and process can safeguard both speed and quality.

Looking Ahead

Our commitment to our purpose of Building Great Things is simple: build great projects, great teams and great relationships. When we pair our collective strengths with the right processes, tools and people, we do more than deliver buildings; we help define the future of our industry. Thank you to our teams, customers and partners for your collaboration and commitment. Integration is about how we lead as one team, to deliver great things for our customers and communities. Together, we’re shaping the future of construction and building a better tomorrow.

Ever Forward,

DPR Leadership Team
