When Northern Networks decided to revitalize its Raleigh, North Carolina campus, the company recognized that the project would require an experienced, technically savvy construction manager to coordinate and execute the complex project.
The goal of the Nortel Place Revitalization Project was to meet the transforming needs of operations, while enhancing and approving synergies within and across all lines of business.
The multi-phased project, valued at over $88 million, included new office buildings, renovation of four existing buildings, and additional swing-space accommodated in separate facilities. The new additions to the facility were provided via separate, low-rise buildings with typical floors of approximately 25,000 to 30,000 gross square feet. This format allowed for the first sub-phase of the new facility to be accommodated on 10 to 12 floors, at a total area of 300,000 square feet.
The most important aspect of this multi-phase project was to maintain tight control of cost, schedule and quality while simultaneously maintaining a high degree of flexibility in accommodating the owner’s requested changes. These objectives were accomplished by focusing on our client’s needs and keeping our commitments.
Interesting features of the project include an interactive theater in the round, a holographic room, and hi-tech video conferencing. This space was designed for technical sales of systems that ranged in excess of $300 million.
