DPR completed two projects for the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Resident Program at Kendall Regional Medical Center.

The first consisted of a 2,500-sq.-ft. renovation within the hospital on the second floor. The team transformed the space into a suite where the residents sleep, lounge and congregate after their daily/nightly rounds. DPR’s SPW (Self-Perform Work) team provided drywall, ceilings and door installations. This portion of the program was an AHCA-inspected (Agency for Healthcare Administration) project since it is located inside the hospital.

The second project, which ran concurrently with the Resident Suite project, was the GME Academy and Education Suite. The team transformed the 3,500-sq.-ft. space in the adjacent medical office building into classroom and office space for the residents and professors. DPR’s SPW team also provided drywall, ceilings and door installations.

Due to delays by the permitting process, DPR was asked to accelerate the schedule to ensure that they would deliver the project before the residents arrived. The team worked nights and weekends to meet the agreed upon substantial completion date and even received a temporary certificate of occupancy to allow the residents and professors to use the space.
