Based on our relationship with MedStar Health, DPR was awarded the Brandywine Ambulatory Care Center without competition. The fit-out includes an MRI plus radiology suite, prompt care, rehabilitation space, lab space and multiple medical practices. This project was Northeast SPW's first opportunity to final clean.
DPR anticipated many owner-driven changes throughout the job. To overcome delays that these might cause, the team sat down with the owner early in the project and outlined a plan for point of contact, procedure and pricing points to remain consistent from day one. This ensured that the stakeholders’ expectations were managed from the start.
In addition, DPR stayed on schedule by using daily pull planning with subcontractors, consistent communication from both field and office, bi-weekly updates to the P6 CPM schedule, and by developing a safe and clean workplace. A base building existing condition problem with plumbing rough-in locations created a scheduling obstacle for the team. The team managed the issue by documenting the condition, notifying the owner, suggesting solutions, and garnering owner and engineer approval.
BIM was implemented by the HVAC & plumbing contractor and used for overhead clash detection to identify conflicts with existing conditions.
