DPR's Marshall Andrews will discuss the partnership between DPR and SmithGroup in order to meet and exceed the CA Commercial 2030 Net Zero mandate in designing its new Sacramento office. This adaptive reuse project exceeds regulatory requirements, targeting Net Positive Energy, while creating a resilient work environment that fosters a connection to the surrounding community. This project is the first use of cross-laminated timber shear walls in CA, innovations in solar panels/solatube usage, and re-using the basement as a thermal labyrinth to heat/ cool outdoor air to use in the building.
DPR Construction's East and West Coast Innovation Leaders Tim Gaylord and Henning Roedel team up to present how they foster an internal innovation culture while simultaneously working with outside vendors with demos and pitches. They share their challenge of cutting through the noise and match solutions to actual problems, without losing the human touch that keeps talented innovators and promising startups engaged.
