WND Ventures has successfully exited our investment in Rhumbix, a field-first workforce management platform, after a decade-long partnership. I couldn’t be more excited to see what their team builds next with the scale and power of Autodesk behind them.

Rhumbix holds a special place in WND’s journey. It was the first startup in our portfolio that we helped scale to an enterprise level. The partnership fundamentally shaped how we work with founders and reinforced a belief we hold deeply: close collaboration and long-term engagement drive real operational success. From the beginning, this partnership was about more than investing in technology that solves real construction problems. It was about innovating together.

Scaling Starts on the Jobsite

When we first invested in Rhumbix in 2017, we brought their solution onto DPR Construction jobsites to tackle the pain of manual craft timecard tracking. It didn’t take long to realize that while the solution was strong, it wasn’t ready for a company operating at DPR’s scale. Key capabilities, like permissions management and location-level filtering, were missing for national deployment.

This is where WND’s model came to life.

We did what would become a defining feature of how we invest: We brought everyone to the whiteboard. I joined Drew DeWalt and Zach Scheel, the co-founders of Rhumbix, at their office in San Francisco and together we mapped out what enterprise-grade construction software should look like. Through several working sessions between DPR subject matter experts, WND Ventures, and the Rhumbix product team, we helped shape Rhumbix into a solution that could perform at scale.

Why Hands-on Collaboration Matters

That progress was driven by partnership. Zach and Drew exemplify what the best founder-corporate relationships look like: hands-on, humble and resilient. Even when things didn’t go smoothly, they listened, adapted and kept pushing forward.

The impact speaks for itself. Rhumbix didn’t just digitize workforce time tracking; it transformed payroll efficiency and proved that investing in the right technology can shape the future of construction.
