Letter from Leadership Making a Lasting Impact

Making a difference starts with action. DPR was founded with the desire to do something different in an industry traditionally resistant to change.

From the start, we established ourselves as purpose and values driven. We organized as a level playing field with a focus on what’s right over who’s right. We built a work environment that continues to break down conventional walls to foster trust, connection and communication.

Why? Because history has proven that we thrive with diverse perspectives and require everyone’s ideas, insight, and active involvement to build great things.

Great teams. To successfully deliver the types of technically complex, exciting projects we build demands high-performing teams. We are committed to building an inclusive workplace that promotes physical and psychological safety, as well as healthier projects for our people and the planet. This extends to our employees, customers, designers, trade and business partners, and suppliers.

Great projects. Having a proven track record of being environmentally responsible in the way we do business means we are constantly working to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and eliminate waste. We want to help our industry move toward a more sustainable future.

Great relationships. Supporting under-resourced communities is another way we strive to make a lasting difference. Whether through building and renovating facilities, mentoring, or partnering with nonprofits, we’re focused on creating lasting relationships and build possibilities.

We know change doesn’t happen overnight. Creating meaningful progress takes time, hard work, and thousands of small actions every day. We’re holding ourselves accountable by setting clear goals, tracking our progress, and being transparent about our efforts.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of integrated calls to action and a blueprint to achieve a better future for all. We joined governments and businesses worldwide in adopting the SDGs as a global framework and aligning with them through efforts, including quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequities, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action.

JUST label founded by the International Living Future Institute

DPR is the largest company and only general contractor to have voluntarily participated in the updated JUST 2.0 label. Joining a number of companies across industries, we share our JUST 2.0 label to provide analysis and insight into the company across six categories: diversity and inclusion, equity, employee health, employee benefits, stewardship, and purchasing and supply chain.

Contractor’s Commitment to Sustainable Building Practices by BuildingGreen

The Contractor’s Commitment is another way the industry has started assessing what it means to be a green contractor. Created by contractors for contractors, it’s a commitment and a way to apply a yardstick to sustainability practices and measure progress on carbon reduction, jobsite wellness, waste management, water management, and material selection. In 2024, DPR achieved “Best” in the Carbon category for our efforts in tracking, reporting, and reducing Carbon in construction.

Ecovadis 2024 Bronze Medal award

Ecovadis

EcoVadis is a leading platform that evaluates companies across various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria to ensure transparency and accountability in sustainability efforts. This platform helps businesses benchmark their sustainability performance, track progress, and identify areas for improvement, fostering responsible business practices globally. Through this report, DPR demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and its alignment with industry standards for ethical and environmental responsibility. DPR improved its overall score by 41% from 2023 to 2024 and achieved a Bronze Medal for being in the Top 35% of all companies rated by Ecovadis. Notable areas of improvement for 2024 are Sustainable Procurement by 133% and Environment by 40%.

The CDP is a global non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources, and protect forests. By disclosing environmental data through CDP, organizations can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and transparency, helping to build trust with investors and stakeholders.
