Justin Schmidt is a longtime builder with a deep appreciation for how data and technology can transform the way we work. In his role as a Data and Development Leader at DPR, he oversees teams focused on product development, AI and machine learning, data engineering and analytics, and knowledge management. His team delivers tools and insights that help project teams work more efficiently and effectively while strengthening DPR’s ability to achieve predictable outcomes.
Justin grew up in his family’s residential construction business, founded by his grandfather in the 1960s. From cleaning up jobsites to running blueprint machines and delivering materials, he was immersed in construction from a young age. After studying civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin, he was drawn to the broader challenges of commercial construction and joined DPR in 2005. He has since held both field and office roles, contributing to projects totaling more than $2 billion.
Today, his role focuses on accelerating DPR’s use of data and technology to enhance how projects get built. He brings a practical mindset, strong technical perspective and a leadership style focused on removing roadblocks and connecting people to keep teams aligned and productive.
Outside of work, Justin enjoys woodworking, skiing, snowboarding and fishing. He spends time building out his home workshop and tackling DIY projects, including custom furniture and a new roof deck. A longtime sports history fan, he also collects vintage signed baseballs and owns pieces from legends like Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron.
