  • Role: Bay Area Co-Business Unit Leader
  • Location: Bay Area
  • Education: B.S. at Virginia Military Institute, M.S. and P.h.D. at Virginia Tech
  • Year started at DPR: 1998

Chris Strock serves as the Co-Business Unit Leader in the Bay Area, where DPR was founded in 1990 as a self-performing general contractor. Filled with a warrior spirit that inspires both action and confidence, Chris focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and working with teams to foster a collaborative and safety-focused workplace to deliver exceptional results.

As a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and Virginia Tech, Chris has built a career that spans multiple roles in construction and engineering from laborer to project engineer, superintendent, project manager and project executive. He has worked in all of DPR’s five core markets and building types, including, but not limited to, data centers, hospitals, laboratories and offices. Chris also took some time away from DPR to obtain his Professional Engineering license designing site plans and utilities, volunteered with several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Haiti and Nigeria while attending graduate school to earn his master’s and Ph.D. degrees, and worked in Gabon for several years for projects supporting FIFA’s African Cup of Nations and water and sanitation master planning in Libreville.

While his experience is vast, what Chris loves most is finding solutions to challenging projects and earning the trust of customers, partners and teams. He most recently served as the Northeast Region’s Self-Perform Leader, where he helped strategically grow self-perform work throughout the region, before relocating with his family from Virginia.

Chris began his career with DPR in the Bay Area and is excited to be back in the Bay Area with his wife, who also works for DPR. A father of four daughters and grandfather of a grandson, he enjoys reading, fitness and still trying to bake the perfect sourdough loaf.
