GPLA, a part of the DPR family of companies, is seeking a Structural Engineer to play a vital role within our team. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of engineering projects. As an expert in the field, you will lead and guide the engineering team, ensuring the highest standards of design, analysis, and compliance with industry regulations. You will establish and implement engineering procedures, drive technological
advancements, and provide technical expertise to resolve complex issues. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will optimize engineering processes, promote innovation, and enhance project efficiency. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, extensive industry knowledge, and excellent leadership skills to inspire and mentor the engineering team.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Technical Oversight: Provide guidance to the engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
Engineering Procedures: Develop and implement engineering procedures and best practices to optimize design, analysis, and construction processes, while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations. - Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert, offering technical support, resolving complex engineering issues, and providing guidance on innovative solutions and emerging technologies.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to coordinate engineering activities, ensuring efficient project execution and timely delivery of project milestones.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of engineering deliverables, including technical calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Technological Advancements: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies, and proactively implement relevant tools and software to enhance engineering processes and productivity.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including architects, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies, to ensure alignment, resolve issues, and meet project objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement, and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement within the engineering department.
- Mentorship and Development: Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members, promoting their growth and technical proficiency.
- Structural Engineering Knowledge: A solid understanding of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards is essential. This includes knowledge of various construction materials, structural analysis, and design principles.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge and expertise in structural engineering principles, design codes, analysis techniques, and relevant software tools.
- Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and inspire a team of engineers, assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance and mentorship.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex engineering issues, make sound decisions, and implement innovative solutions.
- Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and prepare clear and concise technical reports and documentation.
- Quality Assurance: Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards for engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and reliability.
- Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure designs and construction activities meet the required legal and safety requirements.

architects, contractors, and other stakeholders. - Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and deadlines, while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Master’s degree in structural engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Prior experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing a team of engineers, is highly desirable. This experience should involve assigning tasks, providing guidance, managing project deliverables, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, such as creating project plans, managing budgets, and coordinating project activities, is beneficial.
- In-depth knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards relevant to structural engineering is necessary to ensure compliance and successful project execution.
- Strong proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, and/or STAAD.Pro.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. This can involve attending workshops, seminars, and industry conferences to stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices.
- 8-12 years of experience depending on the complexity and scale of projects. This experience should encompass various aspects of engineering design, analysis, project management, and team leadership.
- This is a salaried position.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
