This interior renovation of the fourth floor Geriatric Behavioral Health department at the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center included a full demolition package with subsequent new interiors that are compliant with behavioral health standards.
The SSG team (Special Services Group) worked in an area of the hospital dedicated to high-risk patients. The team took numerous security measures throughout the project to ensure patient and construction employee safety. The superintendent coordinated not only the ICRA (Infectious Control Risk Assessment) program, the ILSM (Interim Life Safety Measures) program, but also the heightened safety protocols mandated by this department.
Our SPW (Self-Perform Work) team provided a full demolition scope in this sensitive area. To alleviate traffic in and out of the jobsite, the team implemented a strict debris removal process, which mitigated the impact of continued hospital operations. One of the most intensive activities was the installation of the new rooftop mechanical unit, which also included structural slab strengthening.
This AHCA-inspected (Agency for Healthcare Administration) project was the second project that DPR completed for Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. This was also DPR’s first inspection that received zero comments from the AHCA inspectors.
