Leading Commercial Contractor Receives Global Best Practices Award from Arthur Andersen in Customers Category

DPR Construction, Inc., a forward-thinking global commercial contractor and construction manager, recently received top honors in the "customers" category of Arthur Andersen's sixth annual Global Best Practices Awards(tm) for creating customer value in the new economy.

According to David Cohen of Arthur Andersen LLP, DPR was selected by an independent judging panel of business, civic and academic leaders from entries submitted by companies around the world. The award program includes an online questionnaire, on-site interviews and several levels of judging and review.

"The value that companies bring to their customers has never been as important as it is now in today's competitive 24/7 business environment," said Cohen. "DPR's combination of the latest technology with talented, hard-working people really separated them from the other applicants." In-person customer satisfaction surveys before, during and after construction, customer-focused team meetings at the end of each project, and the use of wireless communication devices, database management and virtual meeting places are just some of the disciplines DPR has in place to provide quality service.

"Customers have many choices, especially when it comes to who they choose to work with," said Peter Nosler, CEO of DPR. "As part of our core values, we are constantly looking for ways to not only improve our systems and practices but also raise standards in the construction industry as a whole by offering better, smarter and faster services to our customers. When working with a customer - whether it's the first time or the fifth time - we strive to continually add value to the overall development process and embrace each project as an opportunity to build it better." Founded by Arthur Andersen in 1995, the Best Practices AwardsSM is an annual program designed to recognize companies and non-profit organizations whose practices have led to outstanding performance. More than a recognition program, it provides educational forums and tools that enable participants to learn world-class business practices.

A forward-thinking global commercial contractor/construction manager, DPR has been "building great things" since it was founded in 1990, including technically demanding projects in such high-growth industries as mission critical (data/telecom), semiconductors, biotech/pharmaceutical, healthcare, entertainment, high-end corporate and warehouse/distribution. In 11 years, the company has grown to more than $1.9 billion in annual revenue in 2000 and 17 offices, as well as been recognized for its unique collaborative approach in both local and national markets. Founded by Doug Woods, Peter Nosler and Ron Davidowski (a.k.a. "the initials" or D, P and R), the company currently employs more than 3,000 professional staff and union crafts persons.

DPR has offices in Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Newport Beach, Pleasanton, Redwood City, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose and San Diego, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Portland, Ore.; Fairfax and Richmond, Va.; Seattle, Wash.; and Singapore.
