Special Services Group and Tilt-Wall Group to Serve Needs of Expanding Austin Client Base

DPR Construction, Inc., ranked number 15 on ENR's list of Top Contractors in the U.S., has launched two new divisions in Austin: a Special Services Group and a Tilt-Wall Specialty Group. Both divisions will be based out of the company's Austin office and will allow DPR to offer a larger range of services for Austin clients.

The DPR Special Services Group will focus exclusively on smaller commercial construction projects, from high-end finishes to health care and cleanroom construction, in the range of $2,000 to $2,000,000. "We saw our larger commercial clients needing construction services that were too small to be efficiently performed by our main group. The Special Services Group is staffed to provide the same high level of service DPR provides on large construction projects to clients with ongoing maintenance and small project needs," said Daphne Faulkner, project manager of the division.

The Special Services Group has projects in the health care, corporate office, data center and biotechnology areas, many with companies DPR has completed larger projects for. "Our people have been trained on DPR's larger health care, telecommunications and semiconductor projects and have the technical skill to build for these clients on smaller scale. It just makes sense for us to offer construction services at this level," said Faulkner.

The Tilt-Wall Group will be headed by industry veterans John Jaffe and Winston Beam and will offer cost-effective, fast-track construction of tilt-wall facilities. Tilt-wall construction is most commonly used for warehouse and distribution space, but can also accommodate office use. "Winston started our very successful tilt-wall group in our Dallas office several years ago. They've found ways to shorten schedules considerably while keeping budgets competitive; we will benefit from his expertise in this area," said John Jaffe, head of the tilt-wall group. "We definitely see an increasing need for this type of facility in Austin, especially in the airport area."

DPR's Austin office's tilt-wall projects include a distribution facility for Dell, two telecommunications switching centers for WorldCom and numerous warehouse/distribution facilities for Hillwood Properties.

A local builder with global capabilities, DPR Construction, Inc., has been "building great things" in Austin since 1994, for such notable companies as CarrAmerica, Sun Microsystems, Motorola and Dell, with projects ranging from $1 million to $100 million and above. Specializing in technically demanding projects in corporate/speculative office, health care, entertainment, mission critical (data/telecom), biotechnology/pharmaceutical and warehouse and distribution industries, DPR has been recognized for its unique collaborative approach in both local and national markets and is a recipient of Arthur Andersen's 2001 Global Best Practices Award for its customer management. DPR's Austin office is located at 9606 North Mopac, Suite 300, Austin, TX and can be reached by phone at 512-345-7699 or by email at info@dprinc.com, or on the Web at http://www.dprinc.com.
