Turning Wheels for Kids Bike Repair Clinic at DPR’s San Jose Office

This Saturday, August 18th, DPR and Turning Wheels for Kids will hold a Bike Repair Clinic at DPR's San Jose office from 10am to 2pm. This is a free event for neighborhood kids to not only get their bikes fixed, but also learn how to fix their bikes themselves. In addition to bike repairs and lessons, there will also be a barbecue.

For some local kids, bikes are the only way they can get around to go to school or a friend's house. More than just a toy, bikes give these kids independence, confidence, a fun way to exercise and a sense of adventure. Social workers in the area indicate that bikes are the number one requested gift by children.

Supported by DPR’s San Jose office, Turning Wheels for Kids provides new bicycles to underprivileged children in the local community. DPR's Scott Greubel and Phil Bartkowski are on the organization's board. Last year, Turning Wheels for Kids provided 2,500 bikes to children. Hope to see you Saturday!
